ABOUT THE AUTHOR
LOUIS FRANKLIN (aka "Supersparks") is a radio nut. He began at age five with two tin cans and a string, but soon discovered his range was very limited. "I need more power!" he cried. It was at his first AM broadcast job that Lou discovered “skip.”  He would hang around there alone late at night after signoff, often firing up the 10KW DAYTIME-ONLY transmitter. When letters from Broadcast DXers poured in from all over the country asking for QSL cards, the management got suspicious, so Lou moved on. He tried his hand at more broadcasting, Ham radio (K6NH), and commercial mobile radio repairs, and still has the RF burn scars to prove it. It was a fateful day in 1974 that Lou happened upon a large California truck stop, where he discovered CB radios, 100-Mile Coffee, cowboy boots, and cordless soldering irons. His last try at a real job was repairing satellite navigation equipment, but he got seasick the first time out of port. This ended yet another promising electronics career, so he decided to write books about CB radios instead.
